PHLEBOTOMY TECHNICIAN

About Course

In this self-paced, instructor-assisted course, students will successfully complete 25 venipunctures and 5 dermal punctures prior to completing the course. Upon completion of all course requirements, the student will be eligible to test and become a Nationally Certified Phlebotomy Technician (NCPT). This course has an online component, a classroom lab component, and a clinical lab component.

Prerequisite: At least 18 years old, United States High School graduate or hold equivalent credentials (e.g., GED), Clear National Background Check, Two-Step TB Test.

Prior to starting courses in the Flexible Health Program all students will be required to complete the following requirements and submit them to the campus enrollment specialist no later than 3:00pm the Thursday before their class begins.

  1. A national background check: An email link from Universal Background will be sent to students to complete the background check. The cost of the background check is $65.
  2. Submit a copy of photo identification.
  3. Submit a copy of your High School Diploma or GED.
  4. Full payment must be made before course can be started. This includes your background check and books.
  5. CVTECH Photo Identification Badge. Obtain at enrollment.
  6. Enrollment in an AHA CPR course or submit a copy of non-expired AHA CPR course: CPR courses are held regularly at Canadian Valley Technology Center
  7. Submit a copy of students Immunization Status: Students can obtain a copy of their immunization status from the local Health Department or their local pharmacy.
  8. MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)- proof of 2 MMR vaccines required or a titer level will be accepted. Documentation may be submitted on via the Student’s Immunization status record or on a separate form.
  9. Tuberculin Skin Test (PPD)- one step method is required. Documentation must be submitted including the skin test and the reading of the skin test 48-72 hours following the skin test.

Note: 100% attendance plus competency required for successful completion of this course. Clinical rotations are daytime hours arranged per instructor. You will be provided a list of clinical requirements on the first day of class.

Hybrid – Coursework is 100% online. Orientation, skills, and testing performed on-site.

In-Person – Course is 100% in person.

 

In-District students include those whose permanent residence is within any technology center district in Oklahoma. Proof of residency in the form of a utility bill, lease agreement, or mortgage will be required.
